I've "Moved"

Please visit my new blog at LinMom Crafts.

Why the move?  When I first started this blog, I had planned on having an awesome Etsy Store to sell cards, crochet items, and scrapbook embellishments.  I had a name and everything "Love Fields".  But in the past 7, I didn't do much with that store.

I have transferred the majority of my posts to my new blog, but you will no longer see my book reviews since I want it to be strictly craft related.  I haven't decided if I will set up a new blog for book reviews, but you can find me on GoodReads.

History on my LinMom name.  When my kids were young...6 and 7...they loved playing a RocketPower video game.  I do not have very good hand/eye coordination, so I pretty much suck at video games, but this one I kind of got the hang of.  One day I wanted to save my game and was going to type Linda (my name), but my kids were like no, you have to put Mom, but I had already typed Lin--hence LinMom was born :)

That was about 15 years ago and since I have use LinMom as my "handle" on different sites.  I figured even though I've got an empty nest at home, I will always be LinMom.

But back to the question why change...I wanted to try out for a design team and I figured it was time to match my blog name to my instagram.  So I changed both :)

If you gotten this far into my nothing post...Thank you :)  I hope to see you on my new blog!

My Current Favorite Author--Colleen Hoover

I realized I did not share any of the books I read for my 2016 Reading Challenge.  My goal was 52 books...I read 55!!

(Note--Last January, my daughter went off to college and my son was already off to college, so I think reading was my outlet out of reality...my outlet to not be sad that my kids were gone.)

One of the first books I came across last January was Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover and so began my obsession to read all her books and I did--all in 1 year. (16 of my 55 books).

I've rated her books in order of my favorites.

1. Confess--OMG! Loved the idea of his work!

2. It Ends with Us--You have to read the end letter/dedication to her mother.

3. Ugly Love--Break out the tissues!

4. & 5. Hopeless/Losing Hope--These are 2 book but the same story told from different perspectives.  Must read in this order

6. November 9--Keeps you wanting more.

7. Maybe Someday--Loved the interesting shock towards the beginning.  I didn't really care for the theme in the book, but it was still good.

8. 9. & 10. Slammed/Point of Retreat/This Girl--Must be read in this order.  Very cute love story.

11. Finding Cinderella--This has to be read after the Hopeless series.  It is a cute novella :)

12. Maybe Not--This has to be read after Maybe Someday.  Again, just a cute novella

13. 14. & 15. Never Never (3 parts--combined 300 pages)--This one was ok, but a little too much voodoo unrealistic for my taste.

16. Too Late--I never hate a book because if an author has taken the time to write a book, I try to love it...but this one was pretty dark and I didn't really like it.

Now, I cannot wait for her next book--unfortunately it won't be out until the end of the year!  Until then, I am rereading Confess...and maybe a few more of her books again since I have not found a book to captivate me yet this year.

My 2017 Reading Challenge is 12 books because I really need to do other stuff than read :)

You can find all the books I read in 2016 on my Goodreads profile.

Thank you for reading :)

Harry Potter books Layout (way way back Flashback Friday)

A few weeks ago, I met up with my good friends, Liz and Jossie, for a Harry Potter themed craft day.

Want to know a secret?  Since we were having too much fun chatting and eating and shopping and getting the room ready for craft day, we didn't craft much ahahahaha!

I had planned on working on a layout of when I recieved the 7th Harry Potter book in the mail...in 2007!  Yeah, I am behind sometimes...

After I came home with all my craft bags still packed, I decided to work on that layout at home.

I had kept the box the book came in all this time ("After all these years? Always..." ok, you have to be a Harry Potter fan to get that--haha) and I finally used parts of it.

Items used...a library card, my typewriter, Kelly Purkey's Harry Potter stamp, and some book washi I had.

Another secret?  I first did this layout totally different, but it was way too busy (I mean even this one has a lot on it)...I hated the first layout, so I started over...I have absolutely no problem redoing layouts that I hate :D  Here is the horrid first try.

Sorry your eyes are burning now!  ha ha ha.  Thank you for reading!

Be a Unicorn

Image result for be a unicorn quote

Back in August, Liz threw Jossie and me a birthday party, but not just any birthday party...A magical crafty UNICORN birthday party!!

*Fun Fact...Jossie and I were born on the same exact day (yes, including the year!).

I'm pretty upset with myself since I didn't take any photos...not even of the yummy cake Liz made us.  Luckily, Jossie and Liz sent me the selfies we took.

We (mostly Liz and Jossie) made some awesome glittery unicorn horns.  It was a total blast laughing at ourselves taking selfies in the hallway of Joanns.

For my layout, I was excited to use new and old products. I also broke out my typewriter and used the We R Memory Keepers magenta ribbon

Thank you for reading.
